What You’ll Do

Thanks to this 4X4 tour you will discover a culturally and geographically diversified Mauritania .

The magnificent and refreshing Adrar oases nestled between valleys and canyons will welcome you. You may even have the opportunity to bathe and swim in their clear waters.

You will tread on the century-old stony or sandy narrow streets  in the ancient cities of the Adrar―Ouadane, Chinguetti―and Tagant―Rachid, Tidjikja, Tichit, Oualata, Nema. We will watch the last Saharan crocodiles in Matmata guelta.

Later on, we will drive along the Atlantic coast. You will marvel at the unique views where the Saharan landscapes disappear into the Atlantic ocean. We will reach the Banc d’Arguin. In this Natural park you’ll have the opportunity to admire the richness and diversity of its marine and bird fauna (cormorants, egrets, pink flamingos, sternes, mocking birds, spoon bills and grey herons, waders, cetaces, fellings, sharks,  marine turtles). In the heart of the Banc d’Arguin, we will come across the ancestral tribe of the Imragens. These fishermen are known for their respectful fishing techniques in harmony with their environment. They specialise in yellow mullet fishing (poutargue). A few decades ago they were still partnering with dolphins to fish mullets.

Later on we drive down south and discover remarkable mangrove landscapes while getting closer to Senegal and driving along the river that separates the two countries. We can watch and admire the rich bird fauna (black stork, herons, cormorants, crowned cranes, spoonbills, ducks, flamingos, waders, pelicans), mammals (hippopotamus, Nile varans, Seba python, crocodiles ) and  flora (like mangroves) of the Diawling National Park, Senegal river delta. We will drive along the dike in Diama and have a glimpse at the Senegal, the country on the opposite bank. We will come across numerous warthogs.
