This journey takes you to the heart of the Mauritanian Adrar region, between lush oases, ancient caravan towns, and vast Saharan landscapes. For five days, discover Chinguetti, Ouadane, and the most beautiful desert oases, experience nights under the stars, and share authentic moments with the nomadic inhabitants.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Road to Chinguetti and the Adrar Landscapes

• Departure in the morning by 4×4 towards the vast open spaces of the Adrar. The road crosses spectacular desert landscapes.
• En route, stop at the Amogjar Canyon to discover its impressive rock formations and Neolithic cave paintings.
• Picnic lunch on the road before arriving in Chinguetti at the end of the day.
• In the evening, climb the great dune to admire the sunset over the Sahara.
• Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse.

DAY 2: Chinguetti, Tanouchert, and Ouadane

• Visit the ancient city of Chinguetti, famous for its stone architecture and ancient Saharan libraries.
• Stroll through the sandy alleyways and discover local crafts.
• Then depart for the oasis of Tanouchert, where nomadic families still live. Share traditional Mauritanian tea and chat with the locals.
• Continue across the dunes to Ouadane, an ancient caravan city and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse.

DAY 3: The Great Oases of Adrar

• After breakfast, drive to the Mhaïreth oasis, one of the most beautiful palm groves in the region.
• Lunch in the shade of the palm trees and free time to enjoy the tranquility of the oasis.
• In the afternoon, depart for the Terjit oasis, famous for its natural springs and lush vegetation.
• Check into a traditional guesthouse in a Moorish tent.

DAY 4: White Valley and the Great Sahara Dunes

• Departure for the legendary landscapes of the White Valley, a vast, mineral expanse with spectacular terrain.
• Crossing the great dunes of Azoueiga, among the most impressive in Mauritania.
• Setting up camp in the desert with the local team.
• Evening around the campfire and night under a breathtaking starry sky.

DAY 5: Return to Nouakchott and the Atlantic Ocean

• Return to Nouakchott through the Saharan landscape.
• Lunch break by the Atlantic Ocean with the possibility of swimming.
• At the end of the day, visit the famous fishing port of Nouakchott to witness the fishermen returning and the lively atmosphere of the fish market.
• Transfer to the airport or your accommodation.
